"Wish You Were Here" – Casting Lines of Hope and Healing for Those Who've Served

Casting Lines of Hope, Lending Ears of Understanding

At Veterans Fishing for Fun (VFFF), we are dedicated to providing a restorative escape and unwavering support for Veterans and First Responders battling PTSD, depression, emotional challenges, and the everyday hurdles of life after service. Our mission is to deliver therapeutic fishing trips that act as natural therapy, offering relief through the serenity of the water, the camaraderie of peers, and open conversations in a neutral, judgment-free space. Founded by Veterans for Veterans, we go beyond recreation to address real needs: lending an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, and practical help that makes a lasting difference.

ABOUT VETERANS FISHING FOR FUN (VFFF)

Providing Therapeutic Relief, Peer Connection, and Practical Support for Veterans and First Responders in Need

At Veterans Fishing for Fun (VFFF), we are dedicated to offering therapeutic fishing trips and comprehensive assistance for Veterans and First Responders who have been impacted by PTSD, emotional challenges, disabilities, and the stresses of life after service. Founded six years ago by Glenn Coop and his wife Caria Coop, our team specializes in providing personalized support tailored to the unique needs of each participant, ensuring they receive a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, and the relief they deserve in a neutral, judgment-free environment.

We are a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Veterans group

Our mission goes beyond fishing outings; we are committed to expanding access to practical services like mechanic work, air conditioning repairs, and plumbing, while partnering with organizations such as The Gold Star Survival Outreach Service and The Gold Star Family Retreat to address grief and broader community needs. We believe that every Veteran and First Responder deserves a second chance at peace and purpose, and we work tirelessly to create safe spaces for conversation, healing, and real-world help that truly makes a difference in their lives.

Join us in making a difference! Your support through donations or volunteering helps us continue our vital work in providing lifelong relief and peer-driven support for those who’ve served. Together, we can ensure that no Veteran or First Responder is left to face their battles alone.

VETERAN'S WAIVER

At Veterans Fishing for Fun, we believe that no Veteran should ever be turned away from support because of financial barriers. That’s why we created the Veteran’s Waiver, a commitment to ensuring every Veteran has access to our fishing adventures, peer support, and community programs at no cost or at a reduced cost.

NON-VETERAN'S WAIVER

While our mission focuses on supporting Veterans and First Responders, we also welcome non-Veterans who want to experience the healing power of the water and the fellowship of our community.

Gratitude to Our Supporters

Our work would not be possible without the generosity of individuals, families, and businesses who step forward to support our mission. From financial contributions to material donations, every gift helps us continue offering fishing adventures, peer support, and practical services to Veterans and First Responders in need.

Our Founding Story

Born from Compassion: Glenn and Caria's Vision for Veteran Healing and Support

My name is Glenn Coop, and together with my dedicated wife, Caria Coop, we established Veterans Fishing for Fun (VFFF) about six years ago, inspired by an unwavering dedication to supporting our fellow Veterans. As a Veteran myself, I have experienced the deep impact of PTSD, the unseen wounds that persist well beyond active duty, often leading to restless nights, profound isolation, and unrelenting stress. We initiated this organization with a clear and impactful goal: to facilitate therapeutic fishing excursions that deliver essential relief, creating tranquil retreats on the water where individuals can relax, reconnect with the natural world, and start addressing their personal challenges. “The act of casting a line opened doors to tranquility,” Glenn shares, “enabling Veterans to find respite and engage in meaningful conversations within a supportive, non-judgmental setting.”

What Our Heroes Say

At Veterans Fishing for Fun, every outing is more than just casting a line. It’s an opportunity for healing, a space to share stories, and a chance to build friendships with people who truly understand the journey. For many of our participants, the water becomes a place of renewal, where laughter, connection, and peace are rediscovered.

“Going out on the water with VFFF gave me a sense of calm I hadn’t felt in years. The quiet moments between casts, mixed with the laughter and conversations, helped me let go of the stress I’d been carrying. For the first time in a long while, I felt like myself again.”

Drake Morin Veteran Angler

“For me, it wasn’t only about fishing it was about being surrounded by people who understand the struggles that come after service. That sense of brotherhood and belonging reminded me that I don’t have to go through life alone. It means the world to know someone has your back.”

Henry Burns U.S. Army Veteran

“This program offered me more than a relaxing day on the water. It reminded me that there’s a community that truly cares about Veterans and First Responders. The support and kindness I received made me feel valued again, and that gave me strength I didn’t know I had.”
